Can you hear on Zoom without joining audio?

After joining or starting a meeting click “Join Audio by Computer” to connect your computer's speaker and microphone to the Zoom Meeting. If using your computer's speaker and microphone is your preferred audio method check the option "Automatically join audio by computer when joining a meeting".

The wording in Zoom is a bit troublesome. Don't Connect to Audio - before you join the meeting = means your mike is off. Join Audio = means you will hear the other people that are speaking and sound provided for others to hear.

For an instant audio-only meeting just select the Screen Share Meeting on the main Zoom menu. To schedule an audio-only meeting select Screen Share Meeting (Video does not start automatically) on the scheduling interface.

Android: Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App permissions or Permission Manager > Microphone and switch on the toggle for Zoom.
